Sexual Independence is Female Liberation

Lora DiCarlo - Osé 2 Product Review

Sexual independence! What is it? Sexual independence is not needing another human to fulfill (or fill) you. Like financial independence, sexual autonomy is the modern glass ceiling women are striving to break. Ushering in this new paradigm of sexual liberation for women is the red-headed step-child of Silicone Valley - the sex tech industry!

Historically, the sex tech industry (a term popularized by the women of makelovenotporn.com and defined here) has been dominated by men. There are a million toys on the market designed by the imaginations of men. That doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in product efficacy. Call me radical, but I believe no one understands a woman’s body or pleasure centers better than a woman. Don’t fret, this won’t turn into a discourse on the patriarchy, of which I have a mouth full of words, but I will swallow them.

Many women are lost in the vast landscape of sex toys, so many options, so many guarantees! Every woman’s body responds uniquely to different stimuli. This is not a one-size-fits-all deal. The search for an adequate toy can be an overwhelming (and expensive) venture. As a seasoned sex toy shopper, I’ve had more than my share of toy fatigue. Even with the most lauded toys built to ‘maximize’ pleasure, my experience fell short of my full capacity. One could argue, and I will, that in the arena of sexual biology, women are far more evolved and nuanced than our male counterparts. Some serious R&D has been necessary for women’s toys!

Recently, sex tech has become a booming industry, and while that R&D has finally been green-lit, few companies meet the criteria for actively bridging the orgasm gap. The requirements are as follows: a company owned by women, designing toys with women in mind, taking women’s feedback into consideration with engineering, and making sexual wellness education accessible to their customer base. Welcome to 2020 - where Murphy’s law is in full effect, and the impossible can (and most likely will) happen! Enter the company revolutionizing sex toys - Lora DiCarlo

This isn’t going to be your run of the mill review of a sex toy. This is a treatise on female sexuality and… squirting. Yes, a treatise on female ejaculate. No, it’s not mythology.

Lora DiCarlo first entered my vernacular in 2018. I came across a headline that, as a good feminist, was clickbait for me: A Woman’s Sex Toy Award Revoked at CES. CES is an acronym for Consumer Electronics Show, which showcases the year’s best and brightest innovations in technology.

The cliff notes of the controversy are these: Lora DiCarlo’s signature and debut product, Osé, was awarded “Honoree” in the robotics category, as it should be! Osé is a pioneering robotic massager utilizing biometric feedback and nano-technology to (successfully) stimulate dual female orgasms. So, basically NASA technology but for your lady parts. The title was rescinded due to thinly veiled misogyny from the panel of male judges. The panel claimed the product was “immoral, obscene, indecent, profane or not in keeping with CTA’s image and will be disqualified.”

Context: If you are unfamiliar with CES, it showcases sex tech consistently, mostly for male-driven technological advancements in sex tech. CES has a long-standing reputation of underrepresenting women in all their categories and has been accused of upholding anachronistic ethics. Hello double standards!

Lora DiCarlo continued its launch with its award-winning product - Osé. So, I launched my own rebellion against CES by pre-ordering the product. I waited 8 months for my Osé to be delivered, which happened one week after my 31st birthday. Happy birthday to me!

I had my reservations. My experience has been that the hype is usually much greater than the actual reality of the toy’s efficacy. And in full disclosure, this toy was not exactly the cheapest. My review? Osé isn’t a toy - it’s a weapon. Osé allowed me to weaponize my sexuality. Osé introduced me to a dynamic range of orgasms that I didn’t know my body could feel! Osé gives ‘wetting the bed’ a whole new connotation.

Before using Osé, I didn’t know if I could squirt (thanks male-centric science), and now I’m doing it on an infinity loop. All that was required was an intimate understanding of my anatomy… and a robotically engineered hand to help.

If female ejaculate makes you squeamish, I pity you. It’s the nectar of life. Everyone should have the opportunity to drink like a goddess (or from a goddess). While the Osé accomplished incredible feats, the recently released upgrade of this mythological weapon - Osé 2 (available for purchase here), has improved accessibility to the umpteenth degree.

The first time I used Osé 2, I came so hard, I saw stars. In disoriented euphoria, I wondered if I gave myself a concussion. I am not embellishing; this is not hyperbole. Within ten minutes, I had a clitoral orgasm and a g-spot orgasm. Ten minutes… that makes Osé 2 the most considerate bedside partner (or shower partner, yes it’s waterproof!) you could wish for!

If Osé gifted me dual orgasms, Osé 2 gifted me dual orgasms in wanton abandon.

NOTABLE IMPROVEMENTS & HIGHLIGHTS:

For more in-depth product specifications, check out Lora DiCarlo’s website!

  • Slimer & Softer Silicone G-Spot Massager:

Size matters! I’m a petite woman standing at 5’2” on a good day. I don’t know about other women, but handling the size of Osé was challenging for me. It wasn’t a simple plug and play. Despite how aroused I was, inserting the Osé’s massager took a generous amount of lubrication, and even still, I had to wait for my pelvic wall to relax and adjust to the size. With Osé 2, the silicone is softer, slightly smaller in diameter, and more flexible. The adjustment period for inserting Osé 2 is nearly non-existent. It slides in with ease and relative comfort, lube still recommended (Osé may have received an upgrade, but I’m still petite!)

  • Flexible Massager Body:

I appreciate Lora DiCarlo’s No-Woman-Left-Out approach to engineering. With the original Osé, I had to angle the clitoris box sideways to get it to simultaneously sit on my clit and inside me. With Osé 2, the massager wand is slightly longer and more flexible, so no MacGyver necessary! Everything sits where it’s supposed to in the correct orientation. However, in the event you find yourself having mounting issues, the body is flexible to accommodate all types of maneuvers and positions.

  • Improved Vibrations & Narrower Clitoris Box

I would not have thought the clitoral box was a feature that needed improvement, but I’m thrilled someone took this feature into consideration! A more notable feature of Osé 2 is the high-frequency vibration clitoral stimulator. Game changer. Life will never be the same again; cunnilingus will never be the same again. Vibrations penetrate deeply into the nerves externally and internally. Everybody registers sensations; differently, I liken the vibration feeling to a flick of a tongue, or delicate fingers on your clit, but at a speed and intensity that no human could hope to achieve. Imagine a tongue that never tires! It’s really breathtaking. For those who fancy a more aggressive experience, the clitoral stimulator now has 10 different speeds to choose from.

The clitoral box is narrower and more ovular to accommodate different clitoris sizes and shapes (very considerate). Compared to the first model, I have found this allows my clit to fit more directly in the box and closer to the protruding rubber button inside the box, translated - increased intensity and stimulation. The new narrow shape also allows the box to sit more directly on the pubic bone and vibrate simultaneously. This is significant to the anatomy of the clitoris.

For those who aren’t aware of the clitoris’s anatomy, the clitoris (only mapped in 1998 and added to medical textbooks in 2006, so no shade if you didn’t know) is not only the little ball of nerve-endings visible externally. The clitoris looks like a magic wishbone with nerves running through your pubic bone to the opening of your vulva. The design of the Osé 2 takes into consideration NEW SCIENCE about female reproductive organs that have only been discovered recently. Applaud Lora DiCarlo for being a company that is truly cliterate.

  • Outstanding Customer Service and Support

I broke my first Osé… I don’t want to talk about it. It was a dark day for me. The product comes with a one year warranty. I emailed Lora DiCarlo with my warranty number, and the next day I had a replacement toy shipped out to me - no questions asked. I received my new toy within three business days from the time my original broke. This NEVER happens. Outstanding customer service. This company makes good on its guarantees; just make sure you register your product upon arrival.

Cons - The Magnetic Charger

You didn’t think it was all rainbows and butterflies, did you? The only caveat of this toy not achieving a perfect score is the charging hook-up. This is a minor infraction, all things considered. The toy is rechargeable (hooray for being environmentally friendly) and holds a charge for quite a long time. The website says 1 hour; I think that’s a conservative time as I’ve definitely surpassed that limit. The charging set up is two round magnetic ports that connect to the USB charger. I found the connection to be very precarious, it slips off the two ports very easily. I needed to find an outlet away from human traffic or other cords because the smallest wisp of wind would knock it off the toy. Nothing is more irritating than coming home to a dead toy, especially after a stressful day at work. Maybe Lora DiCarlo can engineer a stronger magnetic pull? They seem to be able to manipulate physics in every other regard, so why not?!

Sexual independence is female liberation. There is unparalleled power and intimacy in understanding and owning your sexuality. The benefits of sexual autonomy translate in a myriad of ways, but most profoundly, it gives women the freedom of orgasm by our own hands (or devices, dealer’s choice). Female sexual prowess is endless. We are a species that is capable of multiple orgasms, dual orgasms, orgasms on an infinity loop! We just need the tools and education to learn ourselves. I don’t like to say Lora DiCarlo is a company merely manufacturing and peddling silicone NASA-tech sex toys (though they do that too). Lora DiCarlo is providing education and making education accessible to all women. I like to say Lora DiCarlo is in the business of empowerment and SEX-pression. For women’s sexual wellness, learning our bodies is the first step in cultivating a healthy relationship with the self. Masturbation is self-love and self-love is critical.

If you do anything nice for yourself, make sure you have the tools to gift yourself mind-blowing DUAL orgasms (emphasis on the plural). You deserve them. Full Stop. It’s about time we closed the orgasm gap.
